International Circus Hall of Fame returns to fair with new features, creatures
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The International Circus Hall of Fame from Peru, Ind., is back at the Indiana State Fair with its talented collection of acrobats, jugglers, ringmaster, et al., and this year they've added two new unique acts: Champion Afghan dogs and Rhesus monkeys.
Training the Champion Afghan dogs was once just a hobby for circus performer Susan Cheryl, but now it's her job. After seeing just how amazing these dogs are, she decided they should be a part of the performance. Each of the pure-bred Afghans is capable of incredible athletic feats that comprise a unique and entertaining act. In addition to showing their incredible leaping abilities and one-of-a-kind tricks, they also perform with the only Persian cat in the circus world.
Along with the dogs, the Circus Hall of Fame has added another animal act with Rhesus Monkeys. Known for their congenial manner in captivity, these intelligent primates are both fun and funny! Trainer David Zoppe will put them through the paces of climbing, swinging and jumping in a fast-paced and comical routine that will keep all onlookers smiling. Also featured is the only performing Black Celebese Ape, another rare treat.
If dogs, cats, monkey and apes still aren't enough, fairgoers can experience the Elephant Encounter with trainer Brian Francen who will discuss the habits and abilities of these large, beautiful beasts.
The International Circus Hall of Fame performs three times daily in the Riley Fun Park at noon, 2:30 and 5 p.m. throughout the fair, August 6 - 17.
