11,000 Items Collected in BMV Food Drive

Flood and storm victims receive help

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Hoosiers contributed more than 11,000 food items to the food drive sponsored by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) in cooperation with the Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. The BMV collected items at all 140 license branches and at the State Government Center in Indianapolis for victims of the flooding and severe storms earlier this summer.

Ron Stiver, BMV Commissioner, noted that most of the food was distributed immediately to families adversely impacted by the floods while other items were used to re-supply local food pantries for distribution during and after the disaster recovery period.
