Emergency Response to Storm Damage Causes State Police to Lift some Commercial Restrictions

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -  Due to the severe flooding which has plagued the northwest sector of Indiana, and the extremely high winds which damaged many areas in southern Indiana, the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division has suspended the enforcement of some regulations.

Many out of state companies will be passing through Indiana or coming to Indiana to assist with the damage repair caused by the flooding and high winds. The Indiana State Police will assist in the rapid movement of these power company vehicles by suspending the credential and permit requirements of these companies. Any vehicles operating intrastate or interstate that are assisting with the repair of power and utilities will be exempted from these regulations for the duration of their work in Indiana pertaining to the storm damage.

Those power company vehicles passing through Indiana moving to other states to assist with storm damage repair will also be exempted from these regulations.

This suspension of enforcement of regulations will remain in effect until the emergency no longer exists. If there are any questions regarding this emergency suspension of regulations please, call the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division at 1-800-523-2226 or 1-317-615-7373.
