INDOT Cores Centennial Crossing

U.S. 35 Bypass Intersection Will Close Tuesday To Cross-Traffic

MUNCIE, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will close Centennial Avenue at the U.S. 35 Muncie Bypass for approximately eight hours next Tuesday.

While motorists will be allowed to turn from Centennial onto the bypass, cross-traffic will be blocked at the median.  A coring crew with drill-type rig and a water truck will occupy the median space on U.S. 35.  They will cut a 90-foot cylinder-shaped core sample for later analysis.  It will be pulled in 20-foot sections.

U.S. 35 traffic-both northbound and southbound-will be restricted by INDOT to single lanes, creating a work zone at the crossing that extends into both passing lanes.  Signage and cones will slow traffic and direct vehicles around the worksite.

The coring crew is also scheduled to retrieve smaller samples along Centennial Avenue on Monday and Wednesday.  Work will take place from east of the intersection to Wilson and west to the railroad tracks.
