Two More Emission Testing Sites Offer BMV Services

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Clean Air Car Check emission testing sites in Crown Point and Valparaiso are now officering drive-thru vehicle registration services through a partnership with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV).

Ron Stiver, BMV Commissioner, and officials from Envirotest, the contractor for the State's emission testing program, announced the partnership and pilot program at the Griffith testing site in September. Since starting the program, over 1,000 customers have used the one-stop emission testing and vehicle registration service at Griffith. Brian Kieffer, General Manager of Envirotest Systems, reports that customers have enthusiastically welcomed the time-saving convenience.

The Crown Point and Valparaiso sites are now offering the same drive-thru testing and registration renewal services. The testing site staff will attach license plates and stickers at the customer's request.

Stiver added that the partnership with Envirotest is the newest part of the BMV Customer Choices program that provides BMV customers alternative ways to transact BMV business. Other partnership include 269 auto dealerships, six AAA Hoosier Motor Club offices, five Old National Bank branches and the BMV2YOU mobile license branch. The enhanced BMV Web site and the new myBMV portal make any computer a virtual license branch.

The three Clean Air Car Check emission testing sites currently offering drive-thru registration renewal services are located at:

The Clean Air Car Check stations in Gary, Hammond, Hobart and Portage are scheduled to add registration renewal services before the end of the year.
