Fort Wayne Road Conditions from Indiana State Police
Current road conditions in the Fort Wayne District of the Indiana State Police, which provide service to the citizens of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley Counties, are as follows:
* Interstate 69 and 469 are snow-covered, slick and hazardous
* State and US highways are snow-covered, slick and hazardous
* Secondary (County) roads are snow-covered, slick and hazardous
Although highway crews are out trying to clear roadways, the continuing snowfall will continue to make any travel dangerous and slow going over the next several hours. Current traffic on interstates, state, US and secondary roads is very slow moving, and commuters can expect much of the same throughout the remainder of the day.
Troopers have been steady working crashes and slide offs, none of which have resulted in any serious injuries.
We have to keep our telephone lines open for emergency calls. The best source for road and weather conditions are the media outlets. Citizens can also access road and weather information by going to our website at www.in.gov/isp or by calling the Indiana State Police Road and Weather Line at 1-800-261-7623 (for statewide conditions).
Motorists please use the following cautions when driving:
* Allow extra time
* Reduce speed
* Be aware of sudden stops
* Keep plenty of distance between vehicles
* Hang up cell phones and drive with caution
* MOVE OVER, SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency vehicles
