Central Indiana Road Closures and Crashes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Current road conditions within the Indianapolis District of the Indiana State Police, which includes Marion, Shelby, Johnson and Boone Counties, are as follows:

 

·        Interstates are snow covered and slick.

·        U.S. and State highways are snow covered and slick

·        Secondary roads (county roads) are snow covered and slick.

 

Troopers have been busy investigating crashes and slide-offs. Motorists are cautioned that there may be lane restrictions at various locations, and should be prepared for sudden speed reductions or stops. 

 

Troopers are currently working a property damage crash on I-65 NB at the 96 mm that has the left lane closed at this time. Wreckers are enroute to remove the vehicles. Motorists WILL encounter backed up traffic and delays until the vehicles are removed.

 

Troopers are currently working two property damage crashes on I-65 SB at the 133 mm that has all southbound lanes closed at this time. Wreckers are enroute to remove the vehicles. Motorists WILL encounter backed up traffic and delays until the vehicles are removed.  Southbound lanes are expected to be closed for at least another 45 minutes.

Motorists please use the following cautions when driving:

·        Clear all windows, head/tail lamps of snow and ice.

·        Turn headlights on, even in the daylight hours.

·        Reduce speed

·        Be aware of sudden stops

·        Keep distance between vehicles

·        Hang up cell phones, and drive with caution

·        MOVE OVER, SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency vehicles
