Two Logansport Residents Arrested on Marijuana Charges

LOGANSPORT, IN - On Friday, April 17, 2009, a drug investigation by Indiana State Trooper T.J. Zeiser and Cass County Sheriff’s Sergeant Pat Zeider resulted in the arrest of Anthony L. Snay, 38, Logansport, IN. Officers served Snay with a Cass Superior Court I arrest warrant alleging class D felony charges of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana over 30 grams, and maintaining a common nuisance. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia. Snay was taken into custody at his place of employment in Indianapolis. He was incarcerated in the Marion County Jail.

In late February 2009, Indiana State Police officers in conjunction with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department started a drug investigation after receiving a tip indicating marijuana plants were allegedly being grown inside a home at 528 Burlington Ave., Logansport, IN. During the course of the investigation, officers were able to develop probable cause and obtain a Cass Circuit Court search warrant for the residence.

On March 5, 2009, officers from the Indiana State Police, Cass County Sherriff’s Department, and Logansport Police Department executed the warrant. During their search officers purportedly found an active indoor marijuana growing operation. Officers seized 48 marijuana plants, a shotgun, drug paraphernalia, and growing equipment. A resident of the home, Paula J. Murkve, 41, was taken into custody. She was incarcerated in the Cass County Jail to face class D felony charges for possession of marijuana over 30 grams and maintaining a common nuisance. She has since bonded out. Snay, also a resident of the home, was not at the dwelling when the search warrant was served.

Trooper Zeiser and Sergeant Zeider were assisted in this investigation by ISP Sergeant Jeremy Kelly, Trooper Ezariah Bricknell, officers from the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section, and members of the Indiana State Police Domestic Cannabis Eradication Team.
