Event for Inner City Children Funded by Anonymous Donor, Supported By Others

A $25,000 anonymous donation funds “Jus Cuz” event for 200 children from Floro Torrence School

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - After learning that inner city students from Floro Torrence School #83 of Indianapolis Public Schools were raising funds to pay for the headstone of a slain fellow student, two anonymous donors decided, with the help of Rock Bottom Restaurants Inc., its Foundation, and numerous other community partners, to host a $25,000 funded private party in their honor.

The children’s violence prevention school club raised the needed headstone money and is fundraising for other Indianapolis violence prevention organizations. “Jus Cuz” will be a party thrown to celebrate the children’s hard work and includes gifts of new school uniforms, shoes, end-of-school professional portraits and school supplies.

The anonymous donors are friends of Rock Bottom Restaurant at the College Park location who’ve given generously to ‘Miracle on Washington Street’, an event which takes place at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery in downtown Indianapolis for 500 low income and homeless families on Christmas Day.  The anonymous couple wants to use Rock Bottom Restaurant’s public charitable arm, The Rock Bottom Foundation, as a channel for giving to those in need in the Indianapolis community.

After working with Foundation and local school officials, it has been determined that the children are in need of new uniforms, shoes and a reason to celebrate.  The event is aptly named by the generous donors ‘Jus Cuz’ as there is no holiday or particular reason for hosting the event except for a huge need to provide basic clothing and a boost to morale.

Children will be privately bussed to the College Park Rock Bottom Restaurant location. The party includes a catered Rock Bottom luncheon, music courtesy of a local DJ, Jason Fulkerson,  professional face painting and other carnival games.  As the news spread, other community members are volunteering, including Indianapolis Colt Starter, Gary Brackett, Blue The Colt Mascot, Joe Staysniak, former Colt and local IBC Radio personality. All will attend this private party hosted at Rock Bottom Restaurant.

Schakolad Chocolate Factory will be donating a solid chocolate race car for each child, Pepsi will donate all beverages and Liberty Sutton Photography will provide each child with a professional self portrait to commemorate the occasion.  Gary Brockman Photography will be professionally photographing the event and The Pike Township Fire Dept will arrive with a fire truck and crew. The private party will take place on Tuesday, May 12th from 11AM to 1 PM at Rock Bottom Restaurant located at 2801 Lake Circle Drive in Indianapolis.

Vouchers will be distributed to each attending child entitling the children  to three new school uniforms, a belt and a pair of new shoes to be redeemed at Walmart located on North Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis. Walmart  has offered to host an end-of-summer bar-be-que and new school supplies for all 180 third to sixth graders when vouchers will be redeemed.

“We are humbled by the opportunity to partner with two very special guests whose kindness and generosity has inspired our entire restaurant team,  Foundation and community to contribute to this special day,” explained Tim Fogleman, Managing Partner of Rock Bottom Restaurant.
