Indebtedness! What kind of dirt are we in? What does the Bible have to say about Money, Cares, Entanglements, and meeting our ne

The bible talks a lot about money.

Nearly a quarter of the books, chapters, and verses touch on the subject of earnings, wages, spending, living expenses, etc. etc.

Much more is discussed about trade, travel and all sorts of trades, crafts, and imports/exports; and then there is the commerce of people places and things not to mention the booty and spoil.

Yes the bible does talk about tithes, offerings, love gifts, oblations, penalties, interest, and all sorts of accounting and battles over resources and sex for hire or forced labor and servitude...almost like some kind of plot to get one to think about life, living and the way of money among mankind kind of a way.

And don't forget that "Love of Money" is the root of all evil!  It makes you almost wonder "what" the devil was greedy of?  I especially like the parable of the sower and the descriptions of the different types of soil the seed was sown in; and the way the seed either flourished, or unfruitful and came to no good end.  Its that last bit of dirt that received well, brought forth and was fruitful and meet for the masters use.

I have often asked myself over the years what kind of dirt am I in?  The circumstances, situations, places, peoples change but the same old scenarios keep popping up no matter where I find myself; almost as if there is nothing new under the sun and it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference where I find myself, I just have to do what is right according to the dictates of the truth I have been taught.  If we are diligent to observe, listen, be watchful over the status of our flocks (work of our hands or investments) and the status of the pastures (where we work and at what) we pasture in we will be led to prosper and be in health even as our (Personal and Household) soul prospers as we walk (lifestyle) in the light of God Revealed Word.

Then again if we constantly take our ease and withdraw our hand or shoulder from the plow, or observe the weather to the point we don't till, plant, and water (work at something); we may never see a harvest (payday) and would come to some form of forced involuntary servitude and starve.  Or may simply choose to become economic slaves (Personal Consumer Debt) and let someone else as in a puppet master pull our strings to do his bidding regardless the consequences (wards of the state).

I choose to think that God has given us as believers, a sound mind and a heart to do the right thing for the right reason and we can prosper and thrive as we choose to do good; regardless the sweat of our brow and the toil it takes to reach our honest goals.

What are your thoughts on such as this?

Maybe you would enjoy this web site on The American Dream?  http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/features/americandream/index.html

The things we now face in America and around the Globe are not new; and it has been a long time developing into what we are now experiencing to this degree.  I hope we can enjoy a lively discussion on this particular thread.

This link is interesting to get things going or discuss further:  http://mwhodges.home.att.net/piechart.htm
