Linda Bir-Conn Appointed as Interim Director of the Muncie Animal Shelter

MUNCIE, IN - Mayor Sharon McShurley announces the appointment of Linda Bir-Conn as Interim Director of the Muncie Animal Shelter. Linda brings eight years of animal sheltering experience along with various certifications including, Illegal Animal Fighting Investigations, Developing Animal Emergency Response Teams, Level 1 National Animal Control Association Training Academy, and Shelter Operations School for Managers.

Linda is currently the Executive Director of the New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter and has worked as a professional animal control and animal shelter consultant. Linda’s duties will begin today, Monday August 3, 2009 and will continue during the search for a permanent Director.   

“We have found someone who will work within the same framework established by ordinance – in other words she will earn the established salary and work the same number of hours- as the previous director. With her experience, the community will be served by eliminating time spent learning the job.. Linda’s willingness to serve the City of Muncie gives us time to assess and revise or otherwise perform as an animal control entity- which we are  required to do by state statute.” stated Mayor McShurley.
