What is up with this Global Recession? What are we suppose to expect?

So when I ask what is up with this recession, I am really saying that I am seeing, hearing, and receiving mixed signals and would really appreciate not being lied to about what the national, state, county and city economy is currently capable of and our government leaders are doing that is both going to be timely and realistic to expect in terms of results and short, intermediate and long term goals we can see being met.
After all it is hard to be part of the global trading community if I can not depend on the value and strength of our U.S. Dollar being a stable and dependable currency other trading partners are willing to use and trade in, or that our banking industry is being supported and bailed out at the expense of the consumers both business and individual or families trying to get back on their feet, and need a “little help” with timing of payments or restructuring of loans and maybe some terms of collection or default positions.
Many a bank or credit union are still trying to do business as usual and not considering that standard terms are no longer being able to be met as usual due to work place loss or over-indebtedness of the individual, family or business. Not that over-indebtedness is any excuse; but the timing of repayments and the being pushed into unreasonable collection is something that can and should be mitigated. Institutions need to be at this point “FORCED” to work with consumers at any level as long as there is communication, and good faith attempts to reconcile and not cause undue loss to the institution. Things need to be equally born among community residents and business institutions; without making residents and business predators or prey.
I know what in our own business case that what used to take hours is now taking days maybe even a week to accomplish, and what used to take days is now at least taking a week or weeks, and I don't even want to post about months or quarters. Suffice it to say that we have lost about 90+% of every dollar spent in our shop this same period last year. Remembering that last August was the beginning; of the full blown undeniable part of the current recession. Mind you we did not fully recover for the last recession of 2001 and given the increase n Property Taxes and all the other financial woes of the local economy we are still trying to crawl and scrape our way into a more secure position in our little community. But with our city/county losing so many of it’s best paying jobs and the remaining residents being so over indebted, we are seeing a remarkable thing happen…more and more people are getting out of debt; and that is a great thing…but comes at a cost, and that being the slowness of consumerism and the pay-down or off of many forms of credit use.
At this point in time one of the best things our government could do on the part of We The People of this country is to protect us from being preyed upon by overly aggressive business and institutions. Also they could be prohibiting business or institutions from using such boiler plate terms and conditions in their agreements to allow a bit more grace between parties while maintaining legal recourse but with more grace, while requiring less automatic charges for this or that and demanding things of consumers that are unrealistic and in fact often impossible to comply with; without further credit or abusing some other person or business.
What has to happen with this recession is that we need to come out of it in a better more fit position then we went into it. Without that, we are all just spinning our wheels and not going anywhere. Re-distribution of wealth or property and credit obligations is not the whole of any of the answers and is in fact a very selfish way to approach this whole business. We need to arrive at a workable solution that does not allow the rich or more able to prey upon the less able and poor among us. This is a role Government is suppose to play in this Nation and if not? Then God help us all.
Do what you have to do but extend God's grace in the doing of it. And remember that by whatever judgment you exercise with others it will come back to you sooner or later.
