Charity Ride Stops at Indiana Capitol in Support of Officers Killed in the Line of Duty
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Each year approximately 150 police officers nationwide are killed in the line of duty, with families and co-workers left to deal with each tragic death. Ride4Cops (www.ride4cops.com) was created to raise awareness of the inherent dangers of law enforcement and the sacrifices made by the families of fallen officers.
Supporting the needs of the families left behind is the core mission of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a national not-for-profit organization.
On Friday, September 11, employees from Indiana Interactive and parent company NIC (NASDAQ: EGOV) will demonstrate their united support for C.O.P.S. by making a stop at the state capitol and contributing to the cause as part of the Ride4Cops program. Indianapolis-based Indiana Interactive manages the state’s official Web site (http://www.IN.gov).
NIC Chief Executive Officer Harry Herington has committed to raising more than $125,000 during the next three years for C.O.P.S and other local organizations that support law enforcement. As part of the commitment Herington, a former police officer, is personally riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to every capitol across the country. People can follow the ride at www.ride4cops.com.
