Annual Delaware County College Fair Oct. 19

MUNCIE, IN - Anyone interested in furthering their education is invited to attend the 2009 Delaware County College Fair from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Muncie Central High School, 801 N. Walnut St. The annual event featuring more than 40 colleges and universities is open to all current high school and college students and their parents as well community members who are looking to go back to school.

In addition to visiting with representatives from both public and private institutions, participants will also have the opportunity to attend workshops on Financial Aid and Parents Encouraging Parents. Representatives from 21st Century Scholars will also be on hand to conduct exit interviews for 12th grade students and help sign up students in grades 6-8 for the Scholars’ Project Leadership.

“The College Fair is an ideal one-stop shopping opportunity for anyone thinking of going to college,” said Laura Gregory, student life advisor at Ivy Tech and College Fair coordinator. “Participants can talk with schools directly about their programs, costs, application deadlines and requirements, scholarship opportunities…whatever they need to help them make a decision on the best school for them. And, with more than 40 institutions represented, attendees will have their choice of state, private, large,  small, in-state, out-of-state, specialized or  liberal arts colleges and universities.

This year’s College Fair is sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College, Muncie Community Schools, United Way of Delaware County, WLBC and MAX radio. Those attending the free event should park at the north entrance of Muncie Central.
