Acoustic LIVE Challenge Showcasing the Best in Local Talent

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Local music competitions always have good intentions, but often fall short in providing quality entertainment for the audience. The Acoustic LIVE Challenge, produced by Rob Snodgrass of SEG Productions, has overcome this common pitfall by requiring its participants to leave the electric guitars, drum sets, and recorded tracks at home.

The result is a showcase of original singing, songwriting, and instrumentation. The mandatory stripped-down sound yields real, raw music performed by the best of the best from across the city.

Running strong in its 5th year, the challenge is broken down into weekly competitions (5 artists each night) leading up to two semi-final events, the first of which will take place on December 22nd. Four winners from each semi-final contest will advance to the concluding show on January 5th.

Contestants are competing for career-supporting prizes such as a headlining slot at Slamology 2010, a set at the 2010 Mojostock Music Festival, a photo shoot and website design by Empire of Monkeys, and a set at the upcoming IndyConcerts.com Music Showcase.

This year, the event has brought many well-known figures in the local music scene together to compete for the honor of Acoustic Live Champion. Rory Connolly (of The Great Hook Up) and Drew Mowell (of Records) treated the first two weeks’ attendees to special solo sets.

In week three, R&B vocalist Paul’Michael collaborated with guitar-gifted Sinclair Wheeler and dexterous beat boxer Tony Styxx.

Most recently, the humble, charming, and talented Jamie Nichole stole the show with the highest total points of any artist in the first four rounds. And it’s not even half-way over!
