Muncie, Indiana

Veteran Community Happenings in December 2009

The members of Rolling Thunder Inc. IN-5 of Muncie (many of whom are Veterans themselves) made the Christmas Season at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion Indiana a little more enjoyable for any of the residents and their care-givers, who wanted to participate.

All total they had over seventy participants, in various stages of care, treatment, rehabilitation, and those who were on duty to assist them enjoying Bingo with very generous prizes, gift baskets and gifts brought in from donations, gathered by the Chapter or purchased from donations, over the year for Veteran events.

As well as sodas, ice cream, and cupcakes, fruit, and other munchies that the staff say the residents really enjoy.
All seemed to have had a lot of fun playing bingo, enjoying the eats and various sodas and helping and being helped in whatever way was needed.  Everyone won something!

Then this past week AMVETS "Veteran Elves" delivered their "Christmas Food Baskets" to homes of Veterans and their families, from names submitted earlier in the month.
And then on New Years Eve they are offering a $5.00 per person finger food pitch in, with ETC band 9:00 P.M. to 1:00 AM

Coming up is a New Years Bash! being hosted by American Legion Post 19, at 418 N. Walnut Street.
live music starting at 9:00 P.M. provided by the Dusk to Dawn Band.
With various "Random" door prizes and Spumante' & Party favors for everyone distributed just before Midnight.
The dinner buffet is provided by 3 Brothers & a Pig

A free Taxi service is being provided by P.D.Q. Taxi service from 3-PM to 3-AM (free riders, must have a Legion New Year Ticket or Stub to get their free ride)
This event is open to the public and there will be 50/50 drawings available too.

Their advertised Package price including dinner buffet is $15.00 per person or $10.00 excluding dinner buffet.  Anyone interested in further information call 765-282-8371

The VFW Post 651 at 1801 Kilgore Ave. had it Christmas Party last weekend, to avoid conflict with other events elsewhere.
The Post will be having their own New Years Eve party that starts at their 5:00 P.M. opening, with 10oz T-Bone for $10.00 with sides.  And all drinks will be available at through the canteen.
Here again, party favors are included and rides available if needed.
The Sadie Beck Band (a local favorite) will provide music for the evening.

As you can see from this posting, there are Veterans helping other Veterans and their Families, and there should be no excuse for anyone to be alone for the holidays with so much going on, in the Veterans segment of our community.

So from all of us Veterans and our Families, Thank you for your support, and continued prayers for our troops and their families, to all of you everywhere enjoying the Christmas and New Year holidays?  We Wish you and yours a very Merry, Safe, and Peaceful Christmas, and a Safe, Happy, and hopefully Prosperous New Year.

May God Indeed Bless & Keep You and Yours in that perfect peace, that the Birth, Death, and Resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ provides, in the forgiveness of sins, and in Reconciling all who believe on him, back to the Father of all Spirits.
