Is it Christmas Yet?

Well here we are the Wednesday Afternoon two days before Christmas 2009. I don't know where the folks are at? but they are not out at our side of town yet? and I need someone to tell me; is it Christmas Yet?

It seems more like mid July or something, if it were not for the snow, cold and slush outside I could not tell we are about to celebrate the Christmas shopping season.

Now I applaud the restraint so many are indeed exercising to get things where they need to be, but this is a bit strange to say the least. It is almost like a repeat of the Christmas Season of 2008 but actually worse, at least thus far.
We have never, ever been, a shop that can compete with the likes of a big box store for attracting customers for big time sales on whatever they carry. But within our own niche? we have always excelled at what we have and continue to do; so this remains a mystery as to why this is continuing to be so severe.

We know our Phone Book advertising campaign had and continues to fail miserably, but our Internet presence, and Blogging in various sites has produced some "good" interesting results for the time it takes to keep a presence there.

What has really helped us is the "REVIEWS" by those Customer/Clients, that have come to our shops and partaken of our products and services; That has "Proven" to us time and again to be the best of the best.

Still there is no clear explanation as to what is happening now, except to say it can only be the state of the Economy and what is being offered by "Other" shops elsewhere in the form of discounts on merchandise or necessities that is sucking the discretionary dollars out of the local market place for smaller Mom & Pop shops like ours.

The one shinning spot in our shop(s) is our sewing services have remained strong during all this otherwise sad news. Many a person or family are repairing VS. replacing when it comes to things that can be done that way. And then we are still seeing folks come in for Dog Tags . . . made while you watch to Military Specification.

So now what remains is to see if folks will come in "After Christmas" and get what they really wanted? Hopefully from us? At least that is what we are praying for; that we are blessed to be a blessing to others.
