INDOT Public Meeting Highlights Projects submitted for Federal Funding
Group III presentations Jan. 14, at 9 a.m. at Fort Wayne District building
FORT WAYNE, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that a public meeting will be held to receive input on applications from cities applying for federal funding. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the Fort Wayne District Administration Building, 5333 Hatfield Road, Fort Wayne.
Seven applicants have submitted applications for utilizing Local Public Agency (LPA) Group funds that are available to cities and towns with populations of more than 5,000 but less than 50,000 (based on 2000 United States Census). The maximum amount of funding to any one applicant during the 2010 call for projects is $3 million and will require the local entity to provide 20% in matching local funds. The Fort Wayne District has been allocated a total $5.6 million for distribution. The District has received $11.67 million in requests for the project call.
At the Jan. 14 meeting, officials from each city will provide a presentation about its project, how it will benefit the community and the requested funds. After each presentation, INDOT personnel will ask questions and discuss the project's merits with city officials.
The Fort Wayne District's recommendations will be sent to the INDOT LPA Project Selection Committee for final approval and will announce the awards in late January.
