Biotech Facility Manufacturer to Site Design and Production Operations in Hendricks County

BROWNSBURG, IN - Biologics LLC, a maker of mobile modular biotechnology laboratory and manufacturing solutions, announced today that it will locate its headquarters, design and manufacturing facilities here, creating at least 50 new jobs by 2013.

Biologics designs, builds and validates modular facilities for biotechnology firms and university research labs to lease while they transition from product feasibility to full-scale manufacturing.  The modules, built and tested to meet applicable FDA requirements, can be shipped anywhere in the world.

The company plans to invest $14.6 million in machinery and equipment and will lease 7,500 square feet in the Brownsburg Motorsports Park before constructing a build-to-suit manufacturing facility in 2011.

"It is no surprise that a company involved in biotechnology and logistics- two prominent sectors of the Indiana economy- would choose our state to locate its headquarters," said Governor Mitch Daniels.  "Biologics' announcement is the icing on the cake of two very promising weeks of job creation."

The company expects to begin hiring engineering, laboratory, manufacturing and management associates beginning in March.

"What is of particular interest to our customers is that we can validate and then deliver these new facilities much faster and at a fraction of the cost of the traditional 'bricks and mortar' approach," said Art Patterson, chief executive officer of Biologics.  "This is the ideal place to build this business as Brownsburg and Indiana continue aggressive support of our growing biotech community."

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Biologics up to $550,000 in performance-based tax credits to support the company's job creation plans.  Hendricks County and the town of Brownsburg will consider additional property tax abatements at the request of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership.

"The town of Brownsburg is excited to welcome Biologics to our community and Hendricks County," said Matthew Bowles, Town Council president. "We pursued Biologics based upon on our strengths and successes in working with the motorsports industry. There are many parallels that exist between the motorsports and bio-tech manufacturing sectors.  I am confident that the vision combined with forward thinking our community leaders possess will validate the planning and effort it has taken to bring Biologics to our community."

Biologics' announced plans to locate its headquarters in Brownsburg comes on the heels of announcements from several Central Indiana firms including EnerDel, Express Scripts, Zipp Speed Weaponry and Bluefish Wireless Management who have collectively committed to create nearly 1,900 jobs and invest hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few years.
