Interstate 70 Roll-Over Crash Injures One
HANCOCK COUNTY, IN - At approximately 3:22 p.m. on today’s date Indiana State Police responded to a report of a roll over crash on Interstate 70 west bound near the Mt. Comfort Exit. Rebecca A. Roach, 39, Greenfield, was west bound on Interstate 70 in the left lane when her vehicle got off the roadway in the median area. According to preliminary investigation Roach then overcorrected and her 2003 Chevrolet Sports Utility vehicle rolled over twice.
After Roach’s vehicle rolled twice it came to rest upright on top the Interstate 70 steel barrier cable in the median. Senior Trooper Aaron Gaul stated, “The fact that Roach was wearing her seat belt prevented a fatality in this crash.” Gaul went on to state, “The steel barrier cable did its job by preventing a cross over crash that could have resulted in other vehicles being involved with possibly more devastating effects.”
Rebecca Roach was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The left lane of Interstate 70 was closed for 45 minutes due to the crash. Roach’s condition is unknown at this time.
Senior Trooper Aaron Gaul was assisted at the scene by Trooper Bryce Filson, and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
