Musicians at Lee's Theatrical Productions
Local musicians played at Lee's Theatrical Productions on July 4th. Included were singers Marcia Greenlee and Josh Mahoney, along with the bands Room 236 and Imagine That. Greenlee opened for both the 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. shows, while Mahoney appeared with Imagine That. Owner Darlene Lee (picutured at left) said that while they're basically a theatrical company, they've had five different bands play so far at their Anderson location.
A photo gallery of Imagine That setting up (and more) is available for your viewing please.Greenlee isn't with a band (she does lots of musicals), but she does sing country and rock occasionally. She's been singing since she was five years old.
Mahoney has appeared on Indiana Idol, and primarily does cover songs, although he said, "...the band is talking about working on originals." He's been playing the guitar since the 6th grade and is basically self-taught.
The other band members in Imagine that include Stacia Moore (vocals), Mike Beck (lead guitar), Bob Carney (drums), and John Hudson (bass). If you'd like to know more about Imagine That, you might check out this page about their Open Mic. night at Zanies Too in Indy.
Lee's Theatrical Productions was opened on December 11th last year by Russ and Darlene Lee.
Russ said they had started it all in the basement of a home. Then it moved to an elementary school.
"When we retired from teaching, she said let's build our own theatre," Russ said.
And they did, laying the building out (with the dressing rooms, etc.) exactly how they wanted it.
"It's been a dream since childhood," Russ said.
And now it's a reality.
