SR 1 Scheduled for Restriction Between Dustman Road and Ossian City Limits

Road construction project begins

WELLS COUNTY, IN - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that SR 1 between Dustman Road to the Ossian city limits will be restricted beginning Monday, June 14, for an asphalt resurface project.

The restriction is expected to be in place until late August, 2010. Crews will be milling, patching and paving the seven-mile stretch of road.
Funding for this project is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The contract was awarded to E & B Paving, based on the company's low bid of $1 million.

INDOT advises motorists to take precautions while driving in work zones. In 2009, 700 people were killed nationwide in work zones. Most of the fatalities were not highway workers but drivers. Additional work zone safety information can be found at www.WorkZoneSafety.IN.gov. 221
