Zoeller: Auto Dialer law that protects Hoosiers' privacy will be vigorously defended from robo-callers
Despite lawsuit, Hoosiers can still make telephone privacy complaints to 1.888.834.9969
INDIANAPOLIS - Today, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller issued the following statement about a challenge to Indiana's Auto Dialer law filed this week in federal court:
"The Attorney General's Office will vigorously defend Indiana's Auto Dialer law from this latest challenge brought by political robo-callers, just as we have fought all the previous challenges brought elsewhere. Hoosiers have said in no uncertain terms that they detest robo-calls, don't want to be disturbed by such intrusions -- and they value the privacy that our state's laws afford them," Zoeller said.
"In the meantime, people can continue to file telephone privacy complaints against those who make unsolicited calls and they can also shout into the phone 'Do not call' and then hang up. It is not impolite to hang up on someone who disrespects your privacy," Zoeller added.
Consumers can file telephone privacy complaints by calling toll-free 1.888.834.9969 or visiting www.IndianaConsumer.com. All complaints will be investigated.
