I-69 Nighttime Restriction in DeKalb County Scheduled for Thursday, June 17

Crews begin bridge construction work

DEKALB COUNTY, IN. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that I-69 will be restricted beginning at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, June 17.

While the restriction affects both northbound and southbound traffic, at least one lane in each direction will remain open. A reduced speed limit of 45 mph will be enforced. The restriction is expected to be scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight.

All lanes of I-69 will be diverted onto the ramps at Exit 126 in order to place structural steel over the interstate. This work is weather dependent.
Drivers are advised to drive with caution in the work zone. In 2009, 700 people were killed nationwide in work zones.

Most of the fatalities were not highway workers but drivers. Additional work zone safety information can be found at www.WorkZoneSafety.IN.gov
