INShape Indiana Black & Minority Health Fair Clebrates 25 Years
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - This July, the INShape Indiana Black & Minority Health Fair will celebrate its 25th year. The Indiana State Department of Health has been hosting the Health Fair as part of the IBE's Summer Celebration since 1985. It will be held once again in the Indiana Convention Center, Hall D.
The 2010 Health Fair, "Celebrating Service and Good Health," will run July 15-18 and will offer a variety of exhibitors who will provide information on health issues affecting minority populations, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and childhood lead poisoning. It will feature more than $1,000 worth of free screenings and testing, including: blood sugar, cholesterol, kidneys, prostate cancer, sickle cell, syphilis, child lead exposure, and adult and child dental screenings. The HIV Pavilion will once again focus entirely on education and confidential testing.
In addition, the State Health Department will have a new, interactive booth focusing on a variety of its programs, including: HIV, Immunizations, Lead & Healthy Homes; Maternal and Child Health; Public Health Preparedness and Emergency Response; and Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
"I invite all Hoosiers to join us at the Health Fair, where they will get free life-saving health screenings that have helped countless lives over the past 25 years," said State Health Commissioner Gregory Larkin, M.D. "To add to the celebration, there will be great on-stage entertainment and other healthy, family activities including important health information you need to know."
