4th of July Parade in downtown Muncie Canceled? Due to lack of Participants?

It seems to me to be a sad commentary on our not being able to garner enough interest in having a 4th of July parade in downtown Muncie this year.  As one who has helped in past years to plan one, I know first hand the advance time it takes to schedule bands, the contest amounts that need to be covered to even draw them, and the timing of getting all the various Veteran groups on the same page to get things like a parade done.

In the past few years, the United Veterans Council had been the spearhead to do this; and I am not aware of what changed aside from the economy which is just about all you need, if raising money is part of the equation.  And of course it is, every year.

But at least the City has not canceled fireworks this year, and still many of the Veteran Groups are still doing their own thing in each of their posts.  And MITS is helping with transportation form North and South High schools for parking  to the levee behind Central High School to view the fireworks.

It may be, that it is time to have some back up "virtual"  parades on  the web from archives a few years back, so folks have a better memory of better times and some inspiration to look forward to better times of some kind ahead.

Anyone out there have some film footage on file somewhere to add as a video link?  If so, please feel free to post it in a comment here?

WE the People need  think in terms of what the 4th of July represents to us, as residents of a country still at war, with an enemy sworn to the destruction of our way of life and living, and we need to insure we are individually and collectively supporting our troops, still fighting on those war fronts wherever; even as we find it difficult for ourselves and families currently support a public parade at this point in time.  Times are changing around the world, and America with them, but Americans should never lose track of our more honorable traditions, and historical events.
