Family Bicycle Ride Honors Fallen State Police Officer

PLAINFIELD, IN - Aug. 21, 2010 is the date for the Annual Family Bicycle Ride known as Gary's Ride.  This annual event is held on the grounds of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, located at 5402 Sugar Grove Road, Plainfield, Indiana.  In addition to the multiple distance bicycle course opportunities there will also be a public safety equipment display that will interest all ages.

Indiana State Police Lieutenant Gary Dudley, an avid bicycle rider, died on August 22, 2006.  He was killed while participating in a charity ride to raise funds and awareness for the Indiana Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)

Gary's Ride is a source of funding for The Gary Dudley Memorial Foundation that was established to Award College Scholarships to children of police officers killed in the line-of-duty in Indiana.  The surviving children of any city, county, state or federal law enforcement officer killed in the line-of-duty in Indiana are eligible to receive foundation funds for their education.
