Woman dies after Muncie fire
A grease fire was deadly to a Muncie woman who died Sunday a day after her kitchen caught fire. Beverly Flick, 78, died at Wishard Hospital, Indianapolis, according to the coroner's office, from apparent smoke inhalation. She also suffered burns to her hands and face. Muncie firefighters found Flick Saturday morning on the kitchen floor at 3401 S. Hoyt Ave. following the reported fire. Fire Battalion Chief Mark Adams said the fire started on the stove and the victim was overcome. It was apparent Flick had a respiratory condition since oxygen tanks were found in her bedroom. There was smoke damage throughout the house with the fire mainly in the kitchen. Fire officials credited fire Lts. Mark Greensburg and Steve Ervin for rescuing Flick from the house. The fire remains under investigation, but it was an apparent accident.
