Fire department reorganizaton

The Muncie Fire Department did a bit of reorganization this week after the appointment of Eddie Bell as fire chief.

Two firefighters got captain's promotions after Bell and Deputy Chief Bret Granger were named by Mayor Dennis Tyler to lead the department. And former Chief Sean Burcham returns to his lieutenant's job.

Larry Delk, former deputy chief, will serve as captain and works downtown, as does Greg Wilkins, who got the other captain's promotion. Both will work out of the McCulloch Park station when it reopens this spring  The fire department also plans to reopen the Mock Avenue station in south Muncie.

The Muncie Fire Merit Commission, led by former Muncie City Council member David Taylor, a Republican, approved the promotions besides the chief's appointments.
