Muncie Fire - Old West End

The neglected and boarded up building known as the Muncie Hospital and Invalid Home had been part of the Old West End Historic District since 1890 when an institutional district clustered around Howard, Charles and Adams streets. The old hospital was located at 515 S. Council St.

Muncie firefighters were called around 10 p.m. when neighbors reported a fire at the house. Within  30 minutes, the blaze was under control with no injuries, according to Fire Chief Eddie Bell. It was considered a general alarm and the lack of water hindered the firefighting, according to Battalion Chief James Clevenger.
