xfinity brings Segway patrol to promote online
By Rick Yencer
MUNCIE, IN - A gang of Segway riders took over the University Village Thursday afternoon to promote the latest xfinity Internet deals..
Dennis Sullivan found out about the promotion on Craig's List and xfinity's need for some people to ride around on those motion driven, two-wheel cycles.
"It's easy and takes about a minute to learn," said Sullivan, as he talked about the Internet service and handed out flyers for a free order of Dill Chips at Scotty"s Beerhouse.
Event coordinator Jess Black had her gang run around the Village and on campus for the promotion. xfinity constantly sends customers deals for their service at $19.99 a month for the first six months that some in the industry like PC Mag calls the fastest in the nation. Comcast also wants to snag customers with a bundle of Internet, telephone and cable television service too.
Only a handful of students were around the Village since classes resume on Aug. 20 and move-ins on campus begin next week.
Besides the food giveaway, Mike Droho and The Compass Rose played outside Scotty's as motorists honked and waved. Droho has his folksy music and groups on You Tube and can be found on about any college campus.
Look for a bigger NeelyFest the first weekend students are back to rock the campus. A group of Ball State alumni are putting the music together with details to come.
