Gun play around police dumb move by felon

MUNCIE, IN - A convicted local felon shooting a gun next to a police car got a quick trip back to jail early Sunday.
Ritchie Lee Morton, 27, faces multiple felonies after he allegedly fired a gun in the air as he passed an Indiana State Police car with another suspect awaiting jail.
ISP Trooper Ryan Davis said he was stopped at Madison and 26th streets and transporting a suspected drunk driver when another car passed and someone pointed a handgun at the his car. The suspect then pointed the gun upward and shot into the air.
Davis stopped the car and the passenger in the back seat was identified as Ritchie Lee Morton, 27. A .38 caliber handgun also was recovered from him.
Morton was preliminarily charged with felony criminal recklessness, felon in possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm, Morton did not say why he pointed the gun and then fired it,
Court records indicate Morton has a string of public intoxication and disorderly conduct arrests besides the latest felony charges.
