Best Ideas for Last Minute Halloween Costumes for Amateur and Procrastinators

Tips and Ideas for a Great Last Minute Costume for Halloween 2012

Staff Report

MUNCIE, IN - Whether you are an amateur-crastinator or a procrastinator, time to get your Halloween costume is running out. To help make sure you find something great even at the last hour, we have put together some tips, advice and even ideas on homemade costumes you can make fast and easy.

There is the Halloween place on McGalliard as well as other retailers that have popped up all over town - not to mention the big box stores like Walmart, Kmart and even Meijers. Wherever you shop, at this late hour you are going to have to deal with throngs of other last-minute shopping zombies as well as a shortage of the very best costumes.

Still, if you have the money and do not mind crowd surfing somewhere in town and dealing with the traffic on McGalliard, you still may be able to purchase a somewhat decent Halloween costume. On the other hand, if you're short on cash or time or just don't want the hassle, we have some great ideas for costumes you can make on the cheap.

Last Minute Homemade Costumes for Halloween

Here are some ideas that you can use. You should be able to scrounge around your house to find most of the items necessary for at least one or two of these ideas.

  • Ghost - All you need is a clean sheet with holes punched in it. You can even use a colored sheet to be a strange ghost, but this is about as simple as it gets.
  • Shower - Remember the Karate Kid movie (the real one from the 80s!) and the costume of him in a shower? This shouldn't be too hard to put together.
  • Fridge Magnet - If you want super simple, paint a shoe box black and attach it to your back transforming you into a refrigerator magnet.
  • Sugar Daddy - Simply attach candy to your normal clothes. If you have an extra pimp outfit in the closet, throw it on! This can be a sugar mama as well.
  • Pot Head - Find pot, place on head. This has been done before, but it may work for some adult parties where they have been drinking for a while.
  • Cats and Dogs - Attach cat and dog stuffed animals to an umbrella and go as "It's raining cats and dogs..." Not too many others will be dressed up as a phrase.
