Boys & Girls Club of Muncie to Host Extreme Makeover Week
FREE PRESS REPORT
MUNCIE, IN - Just prior to kicking off the fall after school and teen programs the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie will host an entire week of cleaning, painting and renovation projects. August 12 – 19 will be focused on much-needed repairs and a long to-do list at the Club.
“Our facilities are in great need of attention,” said Micah Maxwell, Executive Director. “As we strive to increase our impact and grow our organization, we must first improve the safety and appearance of our buildings”
The community is invited to participate in three critical ways. 1) Bring your family or volunteer group to help clean and paint during the Extreme Makeover Week; 2) Contractors and Businesses can bring their tools and equipment to donate professional services; and 3) Those that can’t make it to the Club to volunteer can send donations to purchase supplies and materials.
As a part of Extreme Makeover Week the Boys & Girls Club will prioritize renovations of the restroom facilities; expanding the teen programming area, and cleaning, painting and dedicating the Jamel Barnes Gymnasium in honor of deceased Club parent and volunteer. Volunteers are also needed to sort boxes, serve volunteer refreshments and landscaping.
The Boys & Girls Club of Muncie was founded in 1933. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential, as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
