Ball State’s Majok Majok Named MAC West Player of the Week

MUNCIE, INDIANA (NEWS) - After averaging 21.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in Ball State’s past two games, senior center Majok Majok was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.
Majok scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds last Monday at James Madison. He followed that with 25 points and a career-high 18 boards in Friday’s win over Oakland City, becoming the first Ball State player since Terrance Chapman in 2005 to surpass 20 points and 15 rebounds in a game. His 18 rebounds are the most in a game by a MAC player this season.
The Perth, Australia, product connected of 7 of 10 attempts from the floor in both games and made good on a career-best 11 free throws in 12 attempts against Oakland City.
With 32 rebounds over the two games, Majok climbed to 11th nationally in rebounding average at 10.6 per game. He is tied for the MAC lead in double-doubles with five and is one of 15 players in the country averaging a double-double.
Majok has now been named the MAC West Player of the Week three times in his career, having also won the award twice last year.
Ball State opens conference play Wednesday at home against defending league champion Akron. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
