MUNCIE, INDIANA (NEWS) - Wayne Estopinal talked about finding an evolutionary not a revolutionary to succeed Ball State President Jo Ann Gora as the next leader of the university.
More than 50 people attended a community gathering to provide their view of the next president.
Tony Costello, retired architecture professor and president of the Muncie Community School Board, hoped the next president would believe Ball State is a destination and not a stepping stone to higher education.
Julius Anderson, a Ball State employee and president of Muncie City Council, wondered why no one from the community was on the search committee for president.
Anderson also wanted to see the university help Muncie schools and provide more outreach in the community.
Estopinal, who had a Jeffersonville architectural firm, was committed to finding the best president and one that would work with the community, Legislature and the university to improve on the branding and means that Gora brought during the last decade.
Look for a new president to take over by the 2014-15 school year.
