Indiana Public Radio to air Open Mic at Be Here Now

MUNCIE, INDIANA (NEWS) - Indiana Public Radio seeks innovative ways to focus on the performances, activities and concerns of the community, On Tuesday night Indiana Public Radio will be doing just that by recording Open Mic Night at Be Here Now in the village.
Be Here Now hosts Open Mic Night every Tuesday evening from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Indiana Public Radio's The Scene is a live music program featuring the best of Midwest talent. The Scene records live music in various Central Indiana venues and provides a great opportunity for the community to listen to and discover live and local music.
Indiana Public Radio's The Scene has recently featured a variety of Muncie artists including Peter Dragoo and Wesley Moore. The Scene referred to Dragoo as the golden boy of Muncie.
Artists playing Open Mic Night on Tuesday evening have a chance to be recorded and aired on Indiana Public Radio's The Scene. The Scene typically airs full and smaller sets from the artists and features original music.
Be Here Now's owner, Whitney Stump, said he is elated to bring together two community assets for one night of soulful singing and togetherness. Stump, a cheerful man, consistently promotes and helps resurrect community activism, live music, recycling, the arts, bicycling, responsibility and progressive entertainment in his business. Open Mic Night at Be Here Now is presented by local Indiana brewery, Upland Brewing Co. All Upland Brewery bottles and pints are on special for $3 for the evening, 75¢ Retro Cans are also on special.
Every Tuesday, Be Here Now showcases an out-of-town act during Open Mic Night. This Tuesday, American Pinup will be the showcase act. American Pinup is a indie rock, pop, ska and surf rock band hailing from New York. AMP magazine referred to American Pinup as the "voice of the new decade."
The band meshes the punk rock scene with the simplicity of pop music. American Pinup is signed to Altercation Records and has been featured at Vans Warped Tour, SXSW and Tinderbox Music Festival. The band was recently featured on the compilation album, Punkabilly Shakes the World, Vol. 2.
Previously, Achilles Tenderloin, Samuel Lawton, and The Saturday Night Giant have been showcased acts during Be Here Now's Open Mic Night.
Be Here Now is located at 505 North Dill Street in the village, which makes it a prime location for Ball State students seeking live, local music, regional music and Afroman.
