Muncie Looking for Homes Needing Minor Repairs

MUNCIE, INDIANA (NEWS) - Do you own your own home and does the exterior need repair? Do you live in the Forest Park, Thomas Park, South Central, Southside, Industry, Blaine, Southeast, Old West End, Gilbert, McKinley, East Central, Whitely, Eastside, Aultshire and Morningside Neighborhoods?
The City of Muncie’s Community Development Office has recently funded a project through World Changers, a Southern Baptist mission group of approximately 200 teenagers and college students, who will come to Muncie during the week of July 21st to repair approximately 30 home exteriors this summer.
World Changers has worked with the city from 2000-2008 and again last year in 2013, repairing approximately 30 homes per year for homeowners with limited incomes. The CD Office received permission from the City Council to use unused, prior year, designated Housing Rehab funds to fund building materials that are needed, while World Changers provides the labor.
World Changers does exterior work, including window replacement, foundation or porch repair, vinyl siding, door or garage repair, house painting, wheelchair ramp/accessibility items and other miscellaneous repairs.
In order to be considered for this program, homeowners must complete an application and provide verification of income, homeownership and property insurance. Property taxes and sewage bills must be current. Applications are available at the Community Development Office, Maring Hunt Library and Old Town Hill Baptist Church, or you may visit our web site listed below. Applications are due by 4:00p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Community Development Office, 3rd floor City Hall.
