Rep. Huston receives Indiana Chamber’s highest score for support of pro-jobs legislation

INDIANA STATEHOUSE (NEWS) - State Representative Todd Huston (R-Fishers) was awarded a 96 percent rating based on his strong support for pro-economy and pro-jobs legislation from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Rep. Huston received the highest score of all 100 State Representatives in the annual evaluation.

“Great progress was made during the 2014 legislative session and Indiana continues to outpace the nation in job growth and economic development,” said Rep. Huston. “Our unemployment rate is a low 5.7 percent which makes us the economic envy of the nation. By enacting new polices that promote economic growth and regulatory freedom, Indiana will continue along this path of success.”

Each legislative session, the chamber evaluates members of the General Assembly based on their votes in favor of or in opposition to key pieces of legislation related to jobs and the economy.

“It’s important that we accelerate the pace of legislation that will have real and positive impact on the Hoosier workforce. And this report holds legislators accountable to that. It makes it clear which legislators support pro-job growth and pro-economy issues, and which legislators do not. I’m happy to say that Rep. Todd Huston puts bettering Indiana’s economic climate as a top priority,” said Indiana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kevin Brinegar.

For the 2014 evaluation, the Indiana Chamber identified 32 bills to use as their grading criteria.

“I am honored to receive such a high rating from the Chamber. By enacting new pro-jobs policies, Indiana's workforce is steadily growing and our economy is remaining strong. I will continue my work to make sure Indiana continues to be the best place to live, work and raise a family,” said Rep. Huston.
