“When we acquired the home in 2013, it was gutted to the studs and there was a cat living in there,” said Penny Shepard Leach, Executive Director of Muncie Home Ownership about the 609 W. Main St home.

“He moved out. We revitalized the hardwood floors and original staircase. We landscaped the back and it is very serene back there. Where there was once an old garage, it was torn down and we made a little patio for entertaining. We acquired the property from the City of Muncie, then hired Karen Robbins of Homes by Karen. She immediately started revitalizing last fall and through the Winter. It was completed in March of this year, but we had to wait for weather to improve to complete landscaping.”

The organization had previously renovated the five apartments of Victorian Place across the street from 609 W. Main St in 2011-2012. Shepard-Leach said during their time renovating the Victorian Place she had hoped to acquire the 609 W. Main St property. Her hopes were fulfilled and and she said she is very pleased with the renovations.

The homes are each available for rent for $625 a month or for purchase for $72,000.
