Katherine E. Bothel, 86
MUNCIE, INDIANA (OBITUARIES) - Katherine E. Bothel, 86, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on May 27, 1928, in Muncie, the daughter of Rollin and Mary (Luzader) Ward.
Katherine graduated from Yorktown High School, class of 1946 and later married the love of her life, Verlin Bothel in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1990. Together they owned and operated the Bothel Sales and Service for 35 plus years. Mrs. Bothel was a 65 year member of the Yorktown Christian Church where she served as a Deacon Emeritus and a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Katherine was a 50 year member of the Sugar and Spice Home Economics Club and the Delaware County Farm Bureau. For many years she served on the Delaware County Extension Board was a past 4-H Leader and a supporter of the Delaware County 4-H.
Survivors include, one son, Wayne Bothel (wife-Kathy), Yorktown; two daughters, Karen Adkins (husband-Danny), Yorktown and Sue Werking (husband-Dan), Avon; one sister, Evelyn Marsh, Gaston; two brothers, Rollin Eugene (Gene) Ward (wife-Wanda), Yorktown and Ralph Ward (wife-Loralee), Muncie; one sister-in-law, Helen Bothel, West Lafayette; Grandchildren, Allyson Werking, Levi Bothel and Paula Hollins, Justin and Jason Werking; great grandchildren, Victoria Lawson, Max and Madison Werking; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 40 years, Verlin, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, 10:00A.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Kyle Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday morning July 3, 2014, from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
