Indy Colts training camp starts Wednesday in Anderson IN

Robert Mathis, Coby Fleener on hand in Muncie to talk about 2015 season

MUNCIE, INDIANA (SPORTS) - Indianapolis Colts fans like Sherry Mitsch anticipate another NFL playoff  after back-to-back 11-5 seasons that made the team playoff ready.

And her son, Michael, hoped that running back Trent Richardson would improve from a 2.9 yards per carry start with the Colts last season.

"He will lend alot of help to T.Y. Hilton and others,: said Michael Mitsch, about the options quarterback Andrew Luck will have downfield.

The Mitsches were among the hundreds who lined up Monday with talk and get autographs from linebacker Robert Mathis and tight end Coby Fleener who were doing a promotion at the Toyota VW tent sale at the Ball  State University football stadium.

The dealerships were offering no interest sales on new Toyotas and VWs besides low money leases on the the new cars.

Fleener hoped some high impact players injured last year like running back Reggie Wayne and fellow tight end Dwayne Allen would add to the offense and boost the score.

The tight end said the current season would be another tough outing for the Colts that floundered early last year, but came back to get into the playoffs.

Mathis also was ready for the new season, although he will be sidelined in September after suspended by the NFL for using a fertility drug banned by the league.

Coach Chuck Pagano recently reported that other linebackers Erik Walden and Bjoern Werner were stepping up to fill Mathis's pass rush threat.

And look for training camp to mix up linebacker combinations given that Dwight Freeney now plays for San Diego and was the matchup with Mathis at the Colts when Peyton Manning was quarterback.

ESPN and other sports networks have given the Colts a No. 8 ranking given the league's changes throughout the off season. The Colts still command the south conference with Tennessee, Jacksonville and Texas, but still have problems in the post season with old rivals like New England and Baltimore.

The training camp July 24-Aug. 10 will again at Anderson University and feature Colts City and plenty of promotions.

Armed Forces Day is Sunday and there will be Fan Clubs Day Aug. 9. The night practice is July 31 and on Aug. 7, the Colts will play their first preseason game with the New York Jets.
