Watchful Eyes of Gaston

This is the second meeting of the Watchful Eyes of Gaston that I've been to, and again I had a good time and also learned some things about local government in general and specifically, some more history of Gaston. The group (which meets monthly at different areas) was previously referred to as the Concerned Citizens Club. A lot of them hang out on The Star Press forums. They're taking it a step further, though, and meet in person.Why do they meet? Well, from what I've been able to gather, they talk about their community - problems and how to fix them. They educate each others on laws, ordinances, meetings, and much more. It's a social gathering of sorts, but as I said, a lot of information is shared with talk about how to change Gaston for the better.

I'm not going to give out their names, but invite them to do so here on their own. If they don't, that's fine too.  Even anonymous, there's useful information they can share. I want Muncie Free Press to help give them a voice so people know what is going on in their town.

I'll be attending (covering as a reporter) the Gaston Town Council meeting, which has been rescheduled for the 21st of this month. While we're on the topic of City Council meetings, if you go to them in your area, email me or post info to the site. We're currently working on getting recordings of some of the meetings onto the web for your listening pleasure. Together, we can cover the news and share.
