Ball State Student Chemistry Organization Wins Award

A student organization that has worked to get youngsters interested in science won an award recently. The Ball State chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (ACS) won an Honorable Mention Chapter Award for activities in its 2006 chapter report. The chapter will be recognized in the November-December issue of the ACS student affiliates' magazine, inChemistry, and at the ACS National Meeting in New Orleans in April.

Pence Welcomes Affiliated Computer Services to Anderson

 

Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence congratulated Affiliated Computer Services and the city of Anderson today on the news that the company will bring 500 jobs to Anderson.

“The integrity and work ethic of the people of Anderson are a perfect fit for Affiliated Computer Services,” said Pence.  “This new company will bring new opportunities to Hoosier families in Madison County.”

ANDERSON, Ind. (Sept. 25, 2007) - Governor Mitch Daniels and Mayor Kevin Smith joined executives from Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) today to announce that the company will locate a customer care center here, creating 500 jobs.

The company plans to locate the new 26,000 square-foot center in the former Continental Inc. offices at 2710 Enterprise Drive and will begin hiring telecommunications and data operations specialists later this year.

Mitch Daniel's Attempt to Privatize Indiana's Food Stamp Program

By now everyone has probably heard that a part of the farm bill now moving through congress will make it illegal for Indiana's food stamp program to be privatized. The food stamp program is a federal one, funded by the federal government. and the federal government should decide how food stamps are administered, not the state. Mitch Daniels knew this going in and it was Mitch who tried to exploit a loophole in the rules of the food stamp program by having private workers interview clients for foodstamps, but having state workers authorize clients for food stamps.
